For a show not renowned for glamorous characters, you must be over the moon with your wardrobe!

Going shopping in Oxford Street with my costume designer was so great! I know what works on me anyway, and with a license to glam up, we really went to town. And I already knew the best places like Daminis in Green Street for the Asian outfits and accessories that suit Amira’s fusion look the best. It was important to make Amira look different – she’s from west London, so needs to look apart. It’s funny – I turn up with no make-up and scraggly hair, and then turn it on in the make-up room and Amira arrives! I was doing this scene with Nina where I was like: ‘Hang on Amira’s not here yet.’ I chucked ‘Amira’ at her and Nina started playing her, then we chucked it over to Nitin and he became Amira!
