Meet Naila Mughal, the lady that makes the dreams of both Bollywood stars and hopefuls a reality…

Tell us how you got into Bollywood?

I grew up watching Mithun films and wrote a fan letter to him. He actually replied saying he’d invite me to a show next time he was in town. When he came to London, he phoned me and invited me down for his show. Today he is very pleased with what i have achieved over the years.

How do you choose an actor for a role?

I look at the script, analyse the character and arrange castings. In the session, I go through and mark each person. Good casting directors know instantly when they’ve found the right person. 

You’re Dino Morea’s European manager. How’d you get a gig like that?

I handle all his work in UK and Europe;I worked on a couple of events with him and we got on really well. He was very impressed with my commitment and hard work.

Is it a good time for aspiring British actors? It’s an exciting time. More

Bollywood films are being shot in the UK creating opportunities for home grown talent. Upen Patel went to India but the doors are opening for British talent right here.

How can you help new actors and models?

I have launched an agency called NailaMughal Artistes agency for actors, extras, models, dancers, and performers. This could be a great opportunity for those who want to get into this industry.

What is the secret to success in Bollywood?

You have to stay focused, work hard, and remember it’s not all glamorous. You should try and get some training in acting. Go out there, do the right course and go for it. Build contacts and network! There’s a book called Contacts if you want to get into media, www.contactshandbook.com.

What aspects of this job are the most and least appealing?

Most appealing is the buzz and least appealing is no sleep from time to time!
